Andre Ward vs. Arthur Abraham: Live Boxing Coverage Before, After & During Fight

Boxing fans finally get to see the fight they've been anticipating for awhile when Andre Ward and Arthur Abraham meet in Showtime's Super Six World Boxing Class semifinals match. The winner of tonight's match will face the winner of Carl Froch vs. Glen Johnson in a fight we hope will take place later this year.
Ward is a heavy favorite not only to win this fight against Abraham, but to win the entire tournament too. Some boxing fans, including myself, have even started to recognize him as a top 10 pound-for-pound boxer. While that may be a bit premature, nobody can deny his naturally gifted boxing ability. With a little more training and experience, the sky is the limit for the currently undefeated 27-year-old.
Throughout the day I'll be updating you with the latest boxing buzz surrounding this fight and sharing my predictions. If for whatever reason you will be unable to watch tonight's fights, I will also be updating you with the latest analysis and results as the match concludes.

With Andre Ward easily dominating Arthur Abraham over twelve rounds on Saturday night, only one more fight stands in his way from winning the entire Super Six tournament.
He will meet the winner of Carl Froch vs. Glen Johnson in Showtime’s tournament finale hopefully at some point later this year.
Personally, I'll be cheering for a Carl Froch vs. Andre Ward showdown. However, either fighter will pose the biggest threat to Ward's young undefeated career thus far.
Regardless of who he faces, Ward will be the heavy favorite. Not only has he won every fight in the tournament, he has done it with ease.
I believe Froch would give him one hell of a fight, but if Ward could beat him in remarkable fashion, boxing experts around the world will have to start recognizing him as a top 10 pound-for-pound fighter.
He may not have knockout power, but his skills more than make up for it. He is a very enjoyable fighter to watch in his own right.

The Andre Ward vs. Arthur Abraham fight was much more exciting than I certainly predicted. I thought it was going to be a fairly boring fight with Andre Ward easily winning a unanimous decision.
I was correct about the result, Andre Ward did dominate the fight and my earlier scorecard prediction was spot on too. However, the fight was anything but boring.
Arthur Abraham came to fight and was determined to do everything he could do to win. Unfortunately, his best couldn't even come close to matching Andre Ward's best. Ward was way too fast, way too smart and way too skilled to let a fighter like King Arthur beat him.
Kudos to both fighters for trying their hardest. Andre Ward is not known as a knockout puncher, while Arthur Abraham is a very dangerous puncher. Yet that didn't stop Ward from taking chances and risks in the later rounds in an attempt to knock Arthur out.
His attempt was unsuccessful, but it made things exciting. Abraham did catch him with a good shot or two in the last few rounds, but they didn't seem to hurt Wart at all.
Next up for Ward will be the winner of Carl Froch vs. Glen Johnson.

Andre Ward has really started to pull away from Arthur Abraham in their semifinal bout of Showtime's Super Six tournament.
Ward's early round body punching is really starting to take its toll on Abraham. King Arthur is starting to look exhausted and isn't throwing as many haymakers as he was earlier in the fight. The Son of God is on top of his game and has put on a boxing clinic in rounds seven and eight.
Ward isn't known to have knockout power. That's a good thing for Abraham who is getting hit with punches in bunches at this point in the fight.
Luckily for Abraham fans, their fighter does still have dangerous one-punch knockout power which could turn this fight around at any second. These two fighters stepped into the ring tonight ready to put on a crowd pleasing performance and that's exactly what they're doing.
Once again, I stand by my original prediction. It may be a tiny bit closer than I thought, but ultimately Andre Ward will win by unanimous decision unless Abraham gets lucky in the championship rounds.

The fight is finally here, folks. Round one was a little boring. Both fighters were feeling themselves out and being very cautions with their punches. Arthur Abraham definitely looks determined and is coming forward. Andre Ward is being very careful in this round.
In round two, both Andre Ward and Arthur Abraham start getting busier. This round easily goes to Ward in my opinion, but Abraham makes it very exciting by continuing to come forward while throwing the occasional haymaker.
Abraham's wild punches are crowd pleasing but really pose no danger to Ward who is quick enough and smart enough to doge the looping hooks. Thus far I will stick to my original prediction. Andre Ward by unanimous decision!
In good news, both fighters seem determined to put on a good show for the fans! If you have Showtime be sure to run to the television and turn this fight on right now. There are going to be some fireworks!

Chris Arreola swears that he's finally dedicated to working out, getting into shape and making the most of his boxing career while he's still young enough to do so. Of course, Arreola has said the exact same thing in the past and always showed up on fight night out of shape.
However, on the undercard of Andre Ward vs. Arthur Abraham at the Home Depot Center in California, Arreola seemed to be focused and looked impressive.
He showed up to the fight weighing 238lbs which is the skinniest he has been since 2007. The work during training camp also paid off during his fight against Nagy Aguilera whom he defeated in the third round via TKO.
Arreola has always been a likable guy with a fan-friendly style and knockout power. However, throughout his past few fights he has lost a number of fans because his dedication to the sport of boxing was obviously lacking.
If he continues to train hard and stay in shape, he can still salvage his heavyweight boxing career. He's only 30 years old and the heavyweight division is a weak one. He may never beat a Klitschko, but he's good enough to at least compete with everyone else.

In case you missed my official fight prediction for tonight's bout, I have Andre Ward easily winning a unanimous decision over Arthur Abraham by a score of 118-110.
If Abraham wins I will be eating a ton of crow. Luckily for me, I don't see how he stands a chance. I guess we'll know soon enough!
As far as I'm concerned, I'm already looking forward to an Andre Ward vs. Carl Froch clash in the finale of the tournament. That's a fight any boxing fan can get excited for!

In case you missed it last week, Showtime is giving you another chance to watch the Manny Pacquiao vs. Shane Mosley fight. The entire match will be replayed before the Andre Ward vs. Arthur Abraham fight. The replay should be shown around 10pm Eastern time or 7pm Pacific time.
While your watching the fight pay close attention to Pacquiao's legs. After the bout he claimed he was having a lot of tightness which kept him from moving around as much as we're used to seeing him.
I ordered the pay-per-view last week and watched the match live. This time around I'll be paying close attention to Pacquiao's reflexes and overall speed to see if I do in-fact notice signs of his skills starting to decline.
One thing is for sure, it's hard for any boxer to look good against somebody who obviously doesn't want to fight. Shane Mosley had no business being in the same ring as Manny Pacquiao last week and we don't need a replay to know that.

The time has come for me to finally share my official fight predictions for tonight's Andre Ward vs. Arthur Abraham boxing match. One of the beautiful things about boxing is nobody knows exactly what the results will be until the two fighters step in the ring together, but thanks to their past bouts we can get a pretty good idea.
I anticipate a pretty one-sided fight that will end up going the distance. I could see Ward getting tagged by Abraham a few times in the middle or later rounds, but at that point it will be too late to matter. I see Ward putting on a boxing clinic and grabbing a huge lead on the scorecards from the get-go
For an official prediction I'll go with Andre Ward by unanimous decision, 118-110.
Feel free to leave your predictions in a post below! Closest person to actual result gets mad props and a shout-out at the end of the fight!

I would imagine all hardcore boxing fans will be tuning into Showtime tonight to watch the Super Six semifinal between Andre Ward vs. Arthur Abraham. However, casual sports fans may have a hard time deciding whether they should watch the match or not.
As a hardcore boxing fan myself. I say you should definitely tune in. Here's why:
No. 1: Andre Ward has a bright future.
Out of all the young stars in boxing, Ward is arguably the most proven professional and amateur.. He has already beaten Mikkell Kessler, Allan Green, Edison Miranda and Sakio Bika. He also won the gold medal at the 2004 summer olympics. That's Not a bad resume for an up and comer!
No. 2: Arthur Abraham has knockout power.
I don't personally give Abraham much of a chance in this fight, but his power should keep all viewers on the edge of their seats. He could end the fight at anytime with just one punch.
No. 3: Andre Ward has a suspect chin.
While Ward is undefeated in the ring, he has been knocked down before. We could argue that he hasn't fought anyone with as much power as King Arthur.
No. 4: It's free on Showtime.
A lot of fights these days are put on pay-per-view even if most hardcore fight fans don't care to see them. Thankfully, Showtime is doing fans a favor by airing this particular fight for free. Who doesn't love watching world class boxing for free?

One of the reasons the Andre Ward vs. Arthur Abraham fight has been hard to sell over the past few weeks is the fact that boxing fans assume Mikkel Kessler is the superior fighter over Arthur Abraham. After all, Ward did destroy Kessler in 2009 and Carl Froch also had no trouble dominating Abraham, yet he lost to Kessler just one year earlier.
So why should we believe Abraham has any chance to upset Ward?
Well, you shouldn't.
Does Abraham have a shot? Of course he does. He has enough power to hurt his opponent if he's able to connect with a haymaker, but in-order for that to happen Ward would have to make a huge mistake. In other words, the only way Arthur Abraham wins tonight's fight is if he gets lucky.
All of the evidence we have seen clearly shows us that Mikkel Kessler is the superior fighter over Abraham. We have no reason to believe otherwise. If Ward dominated Kessler, things could get really ugly in the Super Six Semifinal against King Arthur.
