Kyle Busch-Kevin Harvick: Can NASCAR Make These Two Drivers Play Nice?
Kyle Busch-Ken Harvick take their battle to the NASCAR offices
It’s not often that drivers have to be fined because they continually can’t play nice with others, but that is exactly what Ken Harvick and Kyle Bush have done. Since their dust up on the track at Darlington last weekend, NASCAR has called them both into the principles office and fined them $25,000 a piece for their tempers.
While I commend NASCAR for being proactive and attempting to instill justice into the NASCAR community, you have to think the punishment might be too light. It’s not like what they did was egregious, but it was ill conceived and this punishment might not be a deterrent to do it again.
I realize that this is the real world and you cannot make someone like you if they don’t, but you can ensure that there won’t be dust ups again. For me I would have suspended them for a race and fined them on top of that. That would have gotten the message too them loud and clear.
Perhaps and this is just speculation, but perhaps NASCAR want the feud because it makes for a better, more compelling product. Again that may not be the case, but a slap on the wrist like that doesn’t make me think they are working hard to curb the mess.
Hopefully these guys got the hint anyway.
