Dwight Howard Lakers: City of Orlando May Have Made the Case for Howard's Exit
Dwight Howard Lakers rumors might hold water
It’s rare that a city has their say in the future of their superstar, especially if it means shipping him out of town. However, the city of Orlando might be putting their two cents into the mix.
According to a poll done in the Orlando Sentinal, the fans of Orlando would vote in favor of a trade involving Pau Gasol and Lamar Odom in exchange for Howard and Gilbert Arenas.
While there is a little less than 4,000 votes in at this point, it makes you wonder if Orlando doesn’t see the writing on the walls.
Howard has had ample time to resign with the Magic. While he fends off stories about his wanting to leave for L.A, he has yet to make it abundantly clear that he wants to stay in Orlando. The key for Orlando at this point is to get a fair return for the young superstar. While they will never get equal value for a man of his skill level, you have to expect that they could get two top notch players in exchange.
In terms of this trade that is being proposed, it’s a terrible trade if Orlando were to make it. Odom is nearly the end and Gasol isn’t getting any younger either. Unless the Lakers are giving up Bynum the discussion wouldn’t be worth having.
Just don’t tell that to the city of Orlando.
