Brock Lesnar: Why His Latest Setback Spells Doom for His Career
Brock Lesnar must face the reality of his UFC career
Maybe the WWE doesn’t look so bad after all.
Lesnar, once the hottest thing in the UFC, is now struggling just to regain his championship form in the octagon. But he’ll have to get there first. The problem with Lesnar has been medical more than physical or anything else.
His recurring bout of diverticulitis has sidelined him from UFC 131, having to be replaced by Shane Carwin. Brock now must concern himself with getting better first and foremost, but that doesn’t mean he’ll be ready to fight again once he heals.
The truth for Brock might be that his fighting days are over. While the prospect of him getting in the octagon again if very good, as diverticulitis is not a condition that should sideline him forever, Lesnar is on a race against the clock. He’s a great fighter at the age of 34 so his window is rapidly closing.
His job won’t get any easier in the next couple of years. Realistically he could be looking at one to two more fights, a title run if the division is weak, and that would be the end of the line.
Brock has to consider the possibility that his career as a dominant UFC fighter is long gone. This illness may have ruined the last chance he had. I hope I’m wrong, but I fear I’m right on the money.
