The West dominates the East.
Bowling Green is 1-1 in conference play. That is as good as it gets for the Eastern division of the Mid-American Conference. Buffalo, Ohio and Akron all have one win and two losses in conference.
The worst record to date in the Western division is 1-2 in conference. Brady Hoke’s Ball State is 3-0 and 7-0 overall; No.24/25 BSU is in the top 25 for the first time since 1965. Western Michigan has won an extra conference game. WMU is 4-0 and 6-1 with a loss to Nebraska in their season opener. Central Michigan is 3-0 and 4-2 with losses to No.10 Georgia and Purdue.
Saturday the list of Western division undefeated in conference will be reduced; Western Michigan is traveling to Central Michigan for what could be a nail biter in the MAC.
Ball State has a bye and could move up in the polls as one of the few remaining undefeated teams. Vanderbilt (Georgia), Kansas (Oklahoma) and Michigan State (Ohio State) have games against higher ranked opponents and any of them could slide below BSU after Saturday.
The Ball State Cardinals conference schedule started light end ends with two top MAC opponents. They travel to Central Michigan who has beaten them the last four meetings. Their final regular season game is at home against Western Michigan.
