Philadelphia Phillies

Not Another Expansion Team!

chris klinknerSenior Writer IOctober 17, 2008

Just a quick thought, since it looks as if it will be the Tampa Bay Rays advancing on Wednesday night. The Rays will be the last of the league's former expansion teams to make it to the Fall Classic.

The Diamondbacks have celebrated a World Series title, the Florida Marlins have celebrated two titles. Since 1980, the Phillies zip. Since 1983 the city of Philadelphia, nada.

So, for the love of all that is right in sports, please do not have the freaking Tampa Bay Rays win a Series title before our beloved Phillies! These expansion cities don't deserve a title. Their fans are too fair weather, their stadiums too empty. These cities have suffered long enough. Tampa Bay celebrating a title just doesn't seem right or fair!

Come on Phillies...the Bucs already screwed us at the Vet and the the Lightning have already hoisted Lord Stanley (hockey in Tampa?!?). Time to end this expansion madness!

Where can I comment?
