2008 Los Angeles Dodgers: Blue Year or a Year of the Blue?

Since 1988, we Dodger fans have watched our teams crash and burn, players come and go, and a constant lack of quality baseball.

We've seen Owners buy and sell, seen a billionaire (Rupert Murdoch) turn our team into a bad business venture.

A team which has had so much great history had begun stepping backwards, and for the the last 20 years they've given us nothing but heartache and pain.

But worst of all, our Octobers have always been vacation days. For 19 years I've said those pitiful words: "Maybe next year."

For the first time in 20 years, I'm actually believing it.

I haven't felt like the Dodgers have put a quality squad on the field, on the mound and in the bullpen since the early '80s. 1988 was a special year, but before the season, would anyone have honestly thought that those guys would win rings?

But this year's team seems to have what we've been searching for: quality at every position, veteran leadership and a manager with great credentials. We've got five true starters and a bullpen packed with live arms.

I've never felt as confident in this team as I do now. For a franchise that has won so many championships and changed the game, it's certainly time for the Dodgers to return to their true form.

As we head into this New Year, the future is looking bright. L.A. fans need to wear their shades!
