Pacquiao vs. Mosley: Endorsement Deals Expected to Bring Pacquiao More Money
Pacquiao vs. Mosley Fight Brings Manny Pacquiao More Fortune
After the conclusion of the big Pacquiao vs. Mosley bout on May 7, many fight fans expressed disappointment in the lack of actual fighting from the part of old veteran Shane Mosley. But despite the fact that Pacquiao was unable to knock out Mosley, we were still treated to some entertaining moments during the fight, including witnessing only the third time Mosley has ever been knocked down in his career.
Now that the match is over, the fighters are left to count their respective purses. Pacquiao reportedly earned well over $20 million, while Mosley was guaranteed roughtly $5 million.
For Pac-man, however, his earning potential doesn't stop with the fight, he's been the target of some interesting endorsement deals and other projects. Some of the most interesting include the release of a new fragrance dubbed MP8 for his eight world titles and an agreement to use Pacquiao's name for produce, aptly named Pacquiao's Produce.
Pacquiao's marketing specialist Lucia McKelvey told ABS-CBN News:
So they're really gonna swatch out the packaging and put Manny Pacquiao on the cover of all their boxes, all their bags and everything.
Sound like a good deal for Pacquiao who is expected to earn royalties from the sale of various vegetables. Hopefully, we don't hear about any contaminated tomatoes anytime soon.
My aim is to make him have category specific deals, like an automotive deal, a credit card deal an electronics deal, a cellphone deal. Every deal out there. So he is really growing around with these brands
Smart move to capitalize on his name as much as possible. Can you really blame his marketing team? Pacquiao's name is gold and can bring in the dough.
My personal suggestion, a Pac-man video game, they might have to fight Atari for those right though.
