NBA Trade Rumors: Is It Time for the Pistons to Trade Richard Hamilton?
NBA Trade Rumors Are Bound To Heat Up As the Offseason Approaches
For a couple of years now, Richard Hamilton has been the odd man out in Detroit.
Ever since Joe Dumars pulled the trigger on a deal that sent Chauncey Billups to Denver in exchange for Allen Iverson, Hamilton has fought an uphill battle to earn some sort of dominant role with the Pistons.
It didn't get easier once Detroit signed Ben Gordon the year after and now, after this year, it seems like it's time for Hamilton and the Pistons to part ways. The shooting guard had a very public feud with coach John Kuester and there were a lot of bridges burned along the way.
It was hard for Dumars to make any kind of move because the Pistons were going through a sale of the team, but now that it's in the past and Detroit has a new owner, there is no better time than now to move Hamilton.
You have to believe that some team is going to want a player that can run all day long and wear opposing defenses out as he breezes around screens for open jumpers. He has a valuable skillset and despite his hefty contract, Hamilton should have many suitors.
This is the time to make moves to clean out the element that led to a massive divide between the team and the coach. It was awful publicity and the Pistons can't afford another season like the one they just went through.
Maybe with Hamilton out of the picture the Pistons can finally get some sort of solid rotation going after years of a merry-go-round in the starting lineup.
