More random thoughts on the IPL:

The debate of ‘club over country’ should be put to rest , at least when it comes to Indian players.

Virender Sehwag will miss the rest of the IPL due to a shoulder injury he has been carrying for the past one year. He should have been allowed to take a break after the World Cup but his IPL masters would have been displeased. So Viru hoists the Delhi Daredevils until he can carry them no more.

Delhi Daredevils are no longer in the reckoning for a playoff spot.

No ‘butcher’ for the West Indies tour and perhaps half the English tour.

Sceptics may wish to point out that the Delhi dasher did not have the best of South African tours.

Would he have come a cropper in West Indian conditions?

Harbhajan Singh and Andrew Symonds may not be the best of friends but they can sure get along—playing for Mumbai Indians. Symmo is a ‘great guy’ according to Bhajji. Should we now term the IPL the Indian Peace Makers League?

Bhajji has credited Sachin Tendulkar with helping the two resolve their differences. If Barrack Obama can be gifted the Nobel Peace Prize, why not Sach for this? All talk about the Bharat Ratna can go for a toss.

Sreesanth

First, you have coaches disapproving of Lasith Malinga’s slinging action. Next, you have them asking their bowlers to try and emulate it. Nothing succeeds like success.

Shantakumar Sreesanth cannot avoid controversies. If Mahela Jayawardene came out smelling like roses in the latest spat because Sreesanth’s tantrum was caught on live television, the question has to be asked as to why was he informed of his omission at the last minute and that too conveniently in front of the cameras?

We all know Sree is temperamental and volatile and his reactions can seem exaggerated. However, he has bowled well for Kochi Tuskers Kerala in this IPL.

The Kerala bowler , of course, needs to learn to handle himself better.

Saurav Ganguly will be in Pune Warriors' playing XI—at last.Yuvraj Singh is astounded by Dada’s intensity in the nets.

Should he be? Has anyone known the Prince of Kolkatta to not be so?

With Shane Warne launching a Twitter crusade against the ‘complaints’ made about the Jaipur pitch by the Mumbai Indians and the last-minute wicket switch in the game against Chennai Super Kings, perhaps, the toss ought to decide which pitch is to be used on that day. The winning captain can choose the pitch ; the losing captain elects to bat or field first.
