Even though the NBA requires each player to wear a team uniform, it hasn't stopped players from expressing themselves in different ways. From Dennis Rodman's crazy hair that often changed, to the arm sleeves that many NBA players wear today, NBA players express themselves in many different ways.
For years, Andrei Kirilenko of the Utah Jazz has been known for his outlandish (and often ugly) hairstyles. But unlike many NBA players, AK-47 has been tattoo-free for the duration of his career. But Kelly Dwyer of Yahoo sports introduced the world to Kirilenko's new tattoo.
In light of Kirilenko's catastrophe, I have compiled a list of the NBA's worst tattoos.
I don't know if Luke Walton has any other tattoos, but if they look like the one on his right shoulder then he needs to look into a discount tattoo removal service.
The tattoo is supposed to be a tribute to the Grateful Dead and Walton and his three brothers, but it looks like an old Native American artifact. The four stick figures are terrible.
Now someone correct me if I'm wrong, but doesn't DeShawn Stevenson wear No. 92 in Dallas? Uh oh...
As a Jazz fan, I tried to figure out what the silhouette of a man represented on Carlos Boozer's right shoulder. The only thing that kept me from going absolutely crazy was looking at the tattoo of the basketball on his left shoulder. It kind of looks like a basketball and rose mixed together.
If anyone knows what the tattoo of the man is, please leave a comment and let me know!
Early in Deron William's career he had a tattoo on his right arm that looked like a black panther or lizard or something. In what would appear to be an effort to cover up the bad tattoo, Williams tattooed a big black blob on his arm. Talk about improvement, eh?
To be fair, the tattoo looks like it could be a dragon and up close it could look cool. But when you are watching him on the basketball court, it looks like a big black square.
Derrick Rose is one of the most entertaining players in the NBA. His stuff on the floor is magical. Do you think that it's possible that his magical talent is actually coming from the wizard on his left shoulder?
Rose's "Poohdini" wizard tattoo is about the only part of his game that hasn't been fun to see this year.
This one might be cheating a little bit because Stephon Marbury is no longer in the league. But the "Star 3" tattoo on the side of Starbury's head is terrible.
Marbury has a number of tattoos, many of which could make the list, but because he's not in the league, we don't see them because he doesn't wear a uniform anymore. But even with the retirement shirt and tie, there is no hiding the disaster on Marbury's head.
I hate to put one player on this list twice, but can you blame me? There are a couple of things I don't like about the Abraham Lincoln tattoo on Stevenson's neck.
1) Abraham Lincoln.
2) Why only five dollars? Why not at least a 20-spot?
I guess Stevenson got sick of the adam's apple and wanted a Lincoln's apple. (I'll be here all night if you want to hear more cheesy jokes.)
Kenyon Martin has a couple of tattoos that I contemplated putting on the list, but ultimately, the lips on his neck take the cake. But hey, everyone wants some lips on their neck, I guess.
Here it is, Andrei Kirilenko's new tattoo. It's quite a big step for a first tattoo. Kirilenko should have definitely thought twice about before agreeing to become the dragon back. Gross.
Uh, I don't think I'm going to even explain this one.
Congratulations, Chris Andersen, you have the worst tattoos in the NBA.
There are about a million tattoos that could have been on this list. Let me know who I left off and what you think.
