LSU Takes a Step Back Against Florida

Bleacher ReportAnalyst IOctober 15, 2008

Florida star quarterback Tim Tebow and the rest of the Florida Gators ate the LSU Tigers whole in “The Swamp” Saturday night, with the final score being 51-21 in favor of Florida. With the loss, the Tigers moved to 13th in the rankings. Before the game they held the No. 3 spot.

LSU, Florida, and Georgia have all been picked as favorites for the National Championship Game, but all three now have a loss on their records. You would have to say that LSU lost to the better team out of the three (Florida lost to Ole Miss, and Georgia lost to Alabama).

The game didn’t leave me with a lot of confidence in this year’s Tigers. Last year, you had a feeling that Matt Flynn, Jacob Hester, Glenn Dorsey, and the rest of the Tigers would be able to pull off a play in the waning seconds of the game to win it, and they did a couple of times. But I don’t have that kind of confidence in this year’s team.

If Ryan Perrilloux were here, then I believe that we actually would’ve given Florida a run for their money instead of just letting them run away with the victory like the Tigers did Saturday night.

That's not to say that I believe Coach Les Miles was wrong in the decision that he made in knocking Perrilloux off of the team. I’m just saying that this team would’ve been a whole lot better off if Perrilloux had behaved himself.
