2011 NBA Playoff Action Heats Up Sunday TV

Today’s early game pits the Lakers against the Mavericks in Dallas, where they’ll get underway at 3:30 PM EDT on ABC. Later on tonight, the Bulls and Hawks meet in Atlanta in a game that will be shown on TNT at 8 PM EDT.

The Lakers are down to their last chance after dropping the first three games in the series, so they can’t help but play with a sense of urgency. Whether that translates into avoiding the defensive lapses and sloppy turnovers that have plagued them thus far remains to be seen.

MUST READ: NBA Free Agency Scenarios

Dallas has been riding the stellar play of Dirk Nowitzki, who is scoring 27.6 points per game in the postseason. Add in some uncharacteristically tight defense (Jason Kidd and Jason Terry are each getting better than one steal per game), and Dallas is going to be tough to beat.

After flopping at home in Game 1 against Atlanta, the Bulls have recovered to put up a couple of solid victories. Derrick Rose seems to have finally gotten some confidence in his sprained left ankle, and when he gets to the rim consistently the Bulls are very difficult to beat.

Atlanta has been up and down all season on its home floor, but when they play well they’re definitely a team that can challenge the Bulls. Joe Johnson and Jamal Crawford have been hitting their jump shots, and if PG Jeff Teague can get off to another hot start the Hawks’ offense could be in good shape.
