Pacquiao vs. Mosley: What Shane Mosley Must Do to Beat Manny Pacquiao
Pacquiao vs. Mosley proves an uphill climb for Mosley
Mosley will have his hands full. He’s never fought a man like Manny Pacquiao and if he plans on shocking the world then he’s going to have to give the performance of his life and make adjustments that cost him the last fight.
In Mosley’s bout against Sergio Mora, he was able to spend a lot of the night wrapping him up and killing time. That won’t happen with Manny. The longer Mosley allows Pacquiao to stick around, the more he’ll pay for it. The best thing that Mosley can do is to attack early and make sure he lands them early because the longer the fight goes the more of an advantage there is for Manny Pacquiao.
Mosley also brought his hands down a lot against Mayweather. That allowed Mayweather open season on his face. Now, if he leaves that open to one of the more aggressive fighter in the sports, and one of the most unpredictable in the ring, there is going to be a problem. Shane must protect himself and use his very long reach to keep Manny from getting close. Once he allows Manny to break that barrier it’s all over.
If Mosley can keep him off and use his best asset, his counterpunch, then he’s got a shot. He’ll just have to be perfect in his execution.
