Pacquiao vs. Mosley Round by Round Scorecard

We are less then an hour away from the pay-per-view, and I can say I am genuinely excited for this fight and card. I think that the Manny Pacquiao vs. Shane Mosley fight has the potential to be very exciting for at least five rounds.
The undercard isn't great, but Wilfredo Vazquez Jr. vs. Jorge Arce should be a decent scrap and Kelly Pavlik has always been one of my favorite boxers. The only fight I have no interest in is Mike Alvarado vs. Ray Narh.
The biggest event of the night is Pacquiao vs. Mosley but that doesn’t guarantee that it'll be the best fight. I will get to that in a little bit. This is the sport's biggest night, and no matter what you think of this fight, it is an exciting night to be a boxing fan.
This fight has the potential to be a war, which would be a boon for boxing, as the last few Pacquiao fights have been brutally one-sided.
This was a terrible fight. I'm not going to mince words here. Mosley fought in a shell and I do believe that Mosley watched tapes of Joshua Clottey.
Mosley looked gun shy and didn't try to win this fight. Plain and simple, Mosley didn't come to win tonight. I am still interested in seeing Mosley but not on pay-per-view and not against a top pound-for-pound fighter.
He could probably beat some of the top-10 guys at welterweight but he isn't going to be a major player anymore. If he fought a come forward boxer that is of average talent he would win but I don't know.
Now that I think of it I don't know if I want to see Mosley again.
Scores: 119-108, 120-108, 120-107
The final round is finally here. This fight has been so uncompetitive and frankly dreadfully boring to watch. The big story for me is that Pacquiao doesn't look like himself. He is just a little off.
Mosley comes out and finally decided to fight for about thirty seconds. Pacquiao then takes over the round like he has every other round. Mosley is holding on the inside and looks like he is 39-years-old.
This is the end of the line for Mosley. It isn't the fact that he just got schooled by the best pound-for-pound fighter. He was gun shy and just looked totally outmatched.
Pacquiao landed some good shots with just under a minute left. The fight finally ends. It ends with a dud. What a fitting end.
10-9 Pacquiao. Dominated the whole fight.
118-110 Pacquiao
Finally some excitement comes and it is false excitement. Mosley landed some good shots that round but he clearly pushed him down. Pacquiao is fighting for a knockout and is getting to Mosley.
Mosley is in full retreat mode and gets caught with a straight left hand. Mosley isn't on solid legs and is starting to take some good shots.
That "knockdown" angered Pacquiao and actually injected some intrigue into this fight. Mosley landed a decent counter but is on the retreat again.
Pacquiao is clearly going for the knockout.
10-9 Pacquiao. He is gunning for the knockout.
108-100 Pacquiao.
Antonio Tarver just picked Floyd Mayweather Jr. over Pacquiao if the two ever fought. That is probably the most interesting thing that has happened all night.
Tarver said he favors Mayweather Jr. over anyone. I kinda agree with that. Mosley lands a good shot and Pacquiao goes down! I don't know if it was a legitimate knockdown and Pacquiao argues the call.
Pacquiao gets up and is fighting with a renewed vigor. He hurts Mosley and is winning the round.
10-9 Mosley. Pacquiao won the round but went down.
98-91 Pacquiao.
After the review it was clearly a push.
Mosley isn't taking a ton of punishment but he is just getting outclassed. I like Pacquiao's gloves. You don't see yellow gloves a lot. It is rather interesting.
Pacquiao doesn't look as sharp but he has no worries about getting hit so that could be why. He is attacking very awkwardly but again he doesn't have to worry about anything coming back from Mosley.
A right hook caught Mosley and he snapped his head back. He is also using feints very well.
10-9 Pacquiao.
89-81 Pacquiao
There really isn't much to say at this point. Mosley is fighting to not get knocked out. Pacquiao is coming out faster in round eight but didn't land anything to big.
Mosley is worn out and won't pull the trigger. Mosley is hanging in there because he has a ton of experience and is very clever in the ring.
If Pacquiao steps on the gas he will be able to get Mosley out of there. He has been known to carry fighters and I could see him doing that with Mosley.
10-9 Pacquiao. Better work
79-72 Pacquiao
Mosley comes out and is jabbing a little bit. Mosley is just flat out refusing to fight. Naazim Richardson told him "The knockdown has you fighting defensive minded", that is 100 percent correct.
Since the knockdown Mosley has gone into a shell and hasn't come out. He has a good enough chin to take some chances but he just doesn't want to take a chance.
I don't mean to harp on it but this is just a boring fight . Pacquiao lands a decent right hand to the head of Mosley. He has been coming forward all night and trying to make this a fight.
He hasn't opened up and attacked like he did to Margarito, which isn't a bad idea.
10-9 Pacquiao. Mosley is doing nothing at all.
69-63 Pacquiao.
This fight has fallen into a pattern, Pacquiao is pushing the action while Mosley stands there and just looks at him. He isn't doing anything. He isn't trying to land on big shot, he isn't trying to throw combinations.
Mosley looks very gun shy. He looked gun shy two fights ago against Floyd Mayweather Jr. but I figured he would try to land one big shot.
Mosley throws some pitter-patter shots to the body but nothing that is going to hurt Pacquiao. The only excitement is when Pacquiao opens up for thirty seconds or so every round.
10-9 Pacquiao. Just blowing him out right now.
59-54 Pacquiao
Mosley looks tired as he leaves the corner for round five. A lot of people thought he would be competitive through the first five rounds but that hasn't been the case.
He is getting beat to the punch and isn't offering much in return. I thought he would lay it all on the line and go out on his shield. He is a warrior and he is just going into a shell and trying not to get hit.
This is very one sided and it isn't the very excited one sided beat down I was hoping for.
10-9 Pacquiao. Just winning on pure talent
49-45 Pacquiao
Mosley appears to have his legs back under him. He has a rock solid chin and I am surprised that he went down. He is a warrior and it is going to take a lot to get him out of the ring.
Mosley goes down again but it was a slip. Mosley isn't throwing anything and if the fight continues this way it is going to be a looong night for Mosley.
Pacquiao has opened up his offensive tool bag and is using everything. He is jabbing very well and it has lead to his success.
Mosley is getting outclassed big time and the big story right now is, can Pacquiao get him out.
10-9 Pacquiao. Doing more work.
39-36 Pacquiao.
Mosley wasn't doing much of anything until a good right hand connected early in round three. Mosley was showing good upper body movement and wasn't taking a lot of shots clean.
Pacquiao was starting to land more and was doing so with combinations. Mosley was throwing one at a time and he was going to need to start throwing combinations if he was going to hurt him.
Mosley was put down with a big left hand! It is only the third time that Mosley has been down. He is in serious trouble. Mosley is on wobbly legs and is just trying to move around. Mosley is going to get out of the round but he was in serious trouble.
It is going to be interesting if the minute rest is going to help Mosley.
10-8 Pacquiao
29-27 Pacquiao
The first round was very uneventful and neither fighter did much. The second round opened up much like the first with both fighters fighting tight.
Mosley opened up a little bit and was met with a flurry from Pacquiao. Neither fighter landed anything in those little flurries. Pacquiao was starting to open up and was starting to land.
Mosley wasn't really throwing or landing much. Pacquiao landed two good punches to end the round and won that round rather easily.
10-9 Pacquiao. Was landing the better shots that round.
19-19
The main event is now here and the biggest fight of the year is underway. This is the first time in a long time that I am genuinely excited about a Manny Pacquiao fight. Shane Mosley may not have a great chance but he has a punchers chance in the first five rounds.
This fight could be very exciting or a one sided beat down like the Antonio Margarito fight. If a one sided beat down happens it will probably be exciting to some degree.
The fight started with Pacquiao pumping out the jab and being cautious. Mosley wasn't throwing much early on and both fighters were pretty tense.
Neither fighter landed anything of note two minutes into the round. Pacquiao barely missed with a wild right hand. Mosley landed a good straight right hand to the body and Pacquiao responded with a left to the body.
Mosley landed a good right with about 30 seconds left in the round. Not much going on here. It was interesting that Pacquiao decided to stay in the pocket with Mosley.
10-9 Mosley. Landed a few good shots.
10-9 Mosley.
Arce was always going to the body well in round 11. It all comes down to this on my card and Arce appears to have the advantage. Arce comes out guns blazing and has Vazquez Jr. hurt on the ropes.
He is throwing non stop but Vazquez Jr. won't hold on. Vazquez Sr. throws in the towel and Arce takes the 122 pound WBO title!
Arce TKO-12!
That was a great fight and after the great upsets in April this isn't a huge surprise. The real question here is this the only upset of the night, or did Arce just set the table up for a big Manny Pacquiao upset?
That was a great fight like I expected and it is going to be hard for the main event to top this one. Arce moves to 57-7-2 (44 KO) and wins a title in his fourth weight class.
Vazquez Jr. falls to 21-1-1 (17 KO) and loses his title after two defenses.
This fight is very close and whoever wins these last two rounds is probably going to take the fight. With the way April was I shouldn't be surprised that Arce is making Vazquez Jr. work hard.
Arce landed a solid hook and Vazquez Jr. responded with a hook of his own. Vazquez Jr. looked a little wobbled and his head was snapped back by a jab.
Arce had Vazquez Jr. on the ropes and was squared up to Arce. He is in serious trouble and breathing out of his mouth. He is holding on and not throwing any punches. He took a good right hand and goes down. It was again ruled a slip, although that one could be a knockdown.
He is gassed out and taking a lot of shots. He is holding on and the fight is slipping away from him. His legs look zapped and he is going to need a big round 12 to keep his title.
10-9 Arce. Landed the harder shots and had Vazquez Jr. hurt.
105-105
