Pacquiao vs. Mosley Round-by-Round: Live Analysis

It's finally here. The day of the big fight. Pacquiao vs Mosley. The Pacman versus Sugar Shane. We are hours away from these two all-time greats climbing in the ring against each other for the first time. I just got back from the Wild Card Gym, which is virtually empty because so many gym regulars are already in Vegas. But those who remain are all set for the big fight.
I'll be doing updates throughout the day leading up to fight time and giving round-by-round analysis as the fight progresses.

While we wait for the inevitable announcement that Manny Pacquiao has won another fight we can look back on the fight. Bad fight between one of the greatest of all time and a guy who was once great and now cashes paychecks. Very sad. The fans were very disappointed at home and in the arena.
Kenny Bayless had a worse night than Mosley though. Stupid knock call. Here's the card. Pretty much a shutout.
We knew what Mosley had to do but he didn't even try. At least Margarito tried. Mosley never pushed Manny into the ropes. Never used his size. Never threw any combos.
Manny couldn't fight Shane because wouldn't fight. Manny is now doing another interview where he says he tried to give a good fight but couldn't. Manny will now fight Marquez. That should be a fight. But who knows. At least Marquez will fight but he is getting older and they'll be fighting at a weight better for Manny.
Man, the only thing good about the whole evening after the under-card was LL Kool J. And he was on the losing side!
This is it. The end of a bad fight with a guy who wouldn't fight. Manny stalks and Mosley pulls back. I don't see a knockout coming. It's very tough to fight a guy who won't fight.
Let's face Mosley knew what he had to do and he couldn't or wouldn't do it. This hasn't been one of Manny's best fight either. But what could he do. These guys are beat before he gets in the ring with them. So now bring on Marquez.
Manny's trying to knock Mosley out but it won't happen. It's Clottey all over again. The boos rain down. Is this really how Shane wanted to do out. Just pick up a paycheck. Very disappointing fight. Manny's win all the way.
Manny wants to knock Shane out. He's going for it. Good job ref. If Shane goes down it's your fault. manny stalks and want to hammer Mosley. Mosley still won't fight.
This is not a good fight. because Shane won't fight and now the fans are turning on Shane. Manny isn't going knock Mosley out I don't think. But it will only be close at all because of the BS call. This is a shut out. And Shane won't fight.
On to Marquez. At least he'll fight Manny. At least he won't be afraid.
This looks like a shutout. Now Antonio Tarver is yakking about Floyd Mayweather, JR. Tell Money May to fight then Antonio. This is ugly but it isn't Manny's fault.
Uh, oh. You're calling that a knock down? Oh, man. That was ridiculous. Now Manny's pissed. It might have been the best thing that could have happened. Manny's going to try and kill him next round. They show the "knockdown at the break. Manny was clearly pushed.
Okay, here we go again. Mosley actually snaps off a couple punches but he can't throw combinations. Only one shot at a time which isn't going to do anything to Manny. The boos rain down again. Early in the round. Shane has landed some jabs in this round. But NO combos.
Then Manny lands some big shots. Mosley has a little spring left but he is very afraid and Manny lands big blows every time Shane opens himself up.
It's just the same thing over and over and over and over.
There was a butt in the last round and that might be Shane Mosley's best chance right now. Mosley continues to paw at Manny very tentatively. Very defensively. It's not a good fight because Shane will not or more likely can not fight Manny Pacquiao.
The only question is if Manny can catch Mosley and knock him out in the late rounds. This is another Pacman beat down. And not even as tough as against Margarito. He's simply cleaning up the division.
It's not a great fight that's for sure and this will not make the fans happy. Here come the boos. More and more the fans are getting fed up.
As we go forward it's hard to see how Mosley can win this fight. He's got to be way behind on points and Mosley isn't able to use his size. At this point Margarito was at least able to get to Manny's body. It's not happening here for Mosley. The announcers are saying the same thing. The fans are starting to boo.
But it's not Manny's fault. what can he do. And can't you blame Sugar Shane. It's one thing to have to fight Manny but why open yourself to getting killed.
Fans here are talking about how Manny looks way better than Mayweather. Mosley just isn't in Manny's league and probably never was. Now he's an old fighter getting carved up.
Manny is backing Mosley up again. It's just like a stalking lion going after his prey. Mosley needed to back Manny up and it just isn't happening.
Manny is taking risks now trying to get Mosley to open up. And it isn't happening. It's starting to look a lot like the Clottey fight. Mosley is just cared and won't take risks. Maybe Shane is hoping to get an opening in the late rounds but I don't know if it will happen. It's just the same round after round.
A the fight goes on we're looking at why Manny Pacquaio is so great. No one in his weight range is as good as fast and creative as he is and no one else fights like he does. That means all the training in the world won't prepare you for what you're about to see. It's like fighting the Tazmanian devil in real life.
Mosley has never seen anyone like this before and especially at this stage in his career that's gotta be tough. Mosley is pawing at his opponent and not snapping off his punches. That will not win this fight because if you can't back Manny up you're screwed.
So now the fight is winding out the rounds and Manny is pounding Shane and racking up points as well.
I have it at least 4-1 for manny in terms of rounds with one 10-8 round.
This is what Manny Pacquaio does. Shane Mosley is really done at this point. He's scared, he can't throw punches. He's done in my opinion. Manny is rocking Shane over and over again. Mosley did land a good combination but so what? Manny's not afraid and once that happens its all over.
Manny is on his way to another victory at the rate we're going.
Well, now we have a Manny Pacquaio fight. Manny is going win this fight. Mosley os scared just like every other fighter that goes against Manny. Say what you like he is the new Mike Tyson. He's going to finish him off quick I think.
This is why Mayweather doesn't want to fight this kid. Because one shot and the fight turns around. I look for this one to only go a couple more rounds but we will see. Mosley doesn't even know where he is at this point. I think it won't go much longer.

Manny isn't fighting his fight right now. I think Mosley has to be happy at this point. He's in this fight and he wasn't supposed to be at this point. I still think Mosley needs to use his size. But Mosley is landing shots, then again so is Manny.
Still Manny should be trying to move Sugar Shane backward. Make him go back.
Manny's round in my opinion but I don't think this a good style for Manny. He needs to press the action. It's ealry but if Shane gets his confidence and the fight goes on and on. Who knows what can happen. I think Shane wants to just rack up a few rounds like this and then see what happens.

Wow! That was the most ridiculous thing I've ever seen. It was like watching one of the later Rocky flicks. But now the fight is starting and we're glad. Please, please be a good fight!
First round gets started. They're feeling each other out at the beginning. It's interesting. Manny is definitely showing respect. Nothing much happens early. But the fight is in the middle of the ring which is good for Manny. Still Manny is fighting very straight up and that's a little odd. He's not really connecting so far.
slow first round and I think it could have been scored either way. I'm surprised because I don't think Manny should let Shane get confidence in this fight. It won't be good for him.

All right. What now? Are we going to have a Rick Ross concert? Is Manny going to bring out Dan Seals and torture us with his rendition of "Sometimes when We Touch"?
Oh, no! More promos! HBO! HBO! HBO! HBO! I'm really hating Showtime right now. We should be watching a fight right now. This is ridiculous. This is the kind of behavior that is killing boxing.
Finally the lights go down. We should be getting a fight about now. But we still have a ways to go. The entrances, the judge's instructions, and a lot more.
I feel like I;m watching the Orange Bowl here. And this isn't good for the fighters. I've fought and I know that much. waiting is a horrible thing once you're ready to go. It throws the fighters off.
I do like LL Kool J, though. This is the best thing we've seen. More LL Kool J please. Have him bring in Manny, too!
First Kool thing of the night.
Manny is coming out to AC/DC. Followed by Eye of the Tiger. By the original dude!
Mosley wins the battle of the bands. Let's see who wins the fight.

Now we get ready for the main bout. The close of the Vazquez-Arce fight has electrified the crowd and that electricity will only get bigger as Pacquiao and Mosley come into the ring. Very, very electric.
But before we can watch the fighters we have to have a CBS/Showtime promo. And now Antonio Tarver is trying to do a stand-up. Showtime is like the "Not Ready for Prime Time" Players. I'm surrounded by people wondering if Antonio can spit out his lines. We're feeling bad for him and that's not good.
And now the National Anthems are being sung before the fighters come in the ring? Showtime really needs to step it up. And I don't have much good to say about Top Rank. Although they did finally put on a decent under-card. But why are they doing this without the fighters in the ring? What is this all about?
Bring out the fighters and let's get in on people.
Now I know why they're doing it. Jimmy Lennon, Jr. is flogging another movie. Paying PPV and still getting ads. They really like soaking the fans down don't they? And now Jamie Foxx? You're killing us!!!!
Enough already. Bring on Pacquiao and Mosley!
