29-year-old undefeated IBF and WBA featherweight (126 lbs.) world champion Yuriorkis Gamboa (20-0, 16 KO's) has been jailed Thursday morning and charged with domestic violence.
According to NBC Sports, Gamboa was booked 5 am and his bond was set at $1,500.
Police found scratches and redness on the arm and neck of Gamboa's wife.
Gamboa's wife, Dunia Francisco, called police 3:14 am. She tried to leave their Miami home, because she felt Gamboa was cheating on her.
When she threatened to take their son with her, Gamboa allegedly grabbed the back of her neck and arm.
Gamboa has stated that he did try to stop her from taking his son with her.
Gamboa's lawyer, Tony Gonzalez, had this to say according to boxingscene.com:
"There were not hits, or excessive violence. We are sure that this incident will not affect the career of a boxer like him..."
Gamboa most recently destroyed former Manny Pacquiao foe Jorge Solis (40-3-2, 29 KO's) inside four rounds this past March.
The boxing world patiently awaits his next fight, pending he can deal with his current troubles.
