Matt Stajan, Losing His Starting Role on the Maple Leafs ?

Jack PorterCorrespondent IOctober 15, 2008

When you go to see a Leafs game you expect to see number 14 Matt Stajan in the starting line-up.

This is becoming less and less true. Matt was a healthy scratch for the Leafs tilt against the St.Louis Blues Monday. Stajan's spot was filled by Ryan Hollweg who was then kicked out for driving Blues defenseman Alex Pietrangelo from behind into the boards.

Hollweg who was fresh off a two game suspension for hitting from behind was automatically suspend for another three games.

Stajan will play in Hollweg spot when the Buds take on the New York Rangers Friday.

But coach Ron Wilson said  "Matt's just got to play better than he's been playing,Other guys have adjusted, Stajan hasn't, so he's probably just finding out what the parameters of the job are."

"I'll keep working and, hopefully, things start going better than they have," Stajan said after practice today.

Stajan will need to keep working if he wants to once again have a daily spot on the Leafs.

Other Note

Free Agent Signing Jeff Finger will remain out of play for another week as he recovers from a foot injury.
