Steve Spurrier added another jewel to the early recruiting class of 2012 on Thursday when he signed a big, 6'5'' 290 pound offensive tackle from Western Guilford HS near Greensboro, N.C. Brock Stadnik is a four star recruit pursued by many top programs.
Just for good measure, Spurrier also snagged his brother, the 6'2'' 245 pound offensive guard Clayton Stadnik. Both brothers wanted to go to the same school and South Carolina was always on top of their list.
Football runs in the family as their father played in the NFL for a short time.
While Clayton, the "little" brother, may need some time to fill out and get ready for SEC ball, Brock has the mental acuity and size to step right in and contribute, even as a freshman.
He is also a top flight student, sporting a 4.3 core average grade on a 4.0 scale. He is as interested in doing well in school as on the field, which says a lot considering how well he does on the gridiron.
“I’m very intense and attack the game. My goal is to put the guy on his butt every time. I want to be a perfect blocker and I’m very technically sound. I have great precision and speed, but with a mean streak.
“I’m still working on my hand placement and want to hold my grip closer and control the defender better. I’m also working on improving my agility,” he told Scout.com
This is the sixth recruit already committed for the 2012 class, the highest rated thus far.
