2011 Kentucky Derby Start Time: Race Start Time and Full TV Schedule Guide
2011 Kentucky Derby Start Times for Saturday
For a three-minute event, the coverage of the Kentucky Derby sure is pretty thorough.
ESPN will have covereage prior to and after the race, running "classic" Derbies in the morning and delivering updates from Louisville, but NBC Sports will lead the way.
From 4 pm to 7 pm the Peacock will cover the 137th edition of the Derby with post time at exactly 6:24: Expect them to leave the gate around 6:30. Bob Costas, Tom Hammond, Gary Stevens, Mike Battaglia, Kenny Rice, Donna Brothers, Bob Neumeier and Jim Cantore will anchor the coverage.
Still, if your familiar with the Derby at all, you know that none of those figures can compare to that of one man, track announcers Dave Johnson.
His thoroughly impassioned "AND DOWN THE STRETCH THEY COME!" has become a part of the sports lexicon as famous as "I'm going to Disneyland," "With the first pick in the NFL Draft..." and "GOOOOOOOOOAL!"
