Well, the draft is over and the lockout is back on, but there is reason for optimism among most NFL teams because of this draft.
The Tennessee Titans are a team that has much reason for optimism after the haul they brought in this weekend.
The Titans surprised a lot of people when they decided to take a chance on former Washington quarterback Jake Locker with the No. 8 pick as the face of the franchise.
The Titans picked up Locker instead of Blaine Gabbert, who many thought could potentially be the top overall pick in the draft.
While I don’t think the pick was a bad one, the careers of Gabbert and Locker will be compared to no end from now until they retire.
The Titans actually had it in their mind to upgrade the defense quite a bit in this draft.
After adding Locker in the first round, they picked up UCLA’s outside linebacker Akeem Ayers in the second, USC’s defensive tackle Jurrell Casey in the third, Miami’s inside linebacker Colin McCarthy in the fourth, Iowa’s defensive end Karl Klug in the fifth, then another defensive tackle and safety in the seventh.
Throw in a running back in the fourth and an offensive tackle in the sixth and the Titans added a lot to a roster in need of some replenishing.
They will certainly be a team to watch next year because of the fact that they have a new coaching staff and seemingly a new face of the franchise in Locker.
