2011 NFL Draft Results: What Is Reggie Bush's Future in New Orleans After Draft?
2011 NFL Trade Rumors: Is it best for Reggie Bush to move one?
It's over for Reggie Bush in New Orleans. At least that's what Jason Cole of Yahoo! Sports thinks. Maybe so does Bush. Mark Ingram was not only a first-round selection for the Saints, he was traded for at a cost of two draft picks.
The backfield is crowded. Chris Ivory led the team in rushing last season and will return with a rehabbed foot. Pierre Thomas has a new long-term deal. Ingram should get a heavy load of carries.
Meanwhile, Bush—who has struggled in production and injuries throughout his career—is owed $11.8 million. There have been rumors that Bush is more than willing to restructure his deal to remain with the team. Coach Sean Payton wants him back.
But is it even best for Bush's career for him to return at this point? How many reps are there to go around? If he's willing to take less money to stay in New Orleans for less reps, it should be fine for him to take less money for starter reps—or share the backfield with just one other player—on a new team.
