It's Fight Week for Manny Pacquiao and Shane Mosley!
The two combatants will square off on Saturday, May 7, at the MGM Grand in Las Vegas for Pacquiao's WBO welterweight belt.
The fight is sold out and the only way you're getting one of the 17,000 seats is if you know somebody who knows somebody who knows somebody. Whether the bout lives up to the confidence of the ticket-buying public remains to be seen. The 39-year old Mosley is coming off a loss and a draw in his last two fights, while Pacquiao is generally considered the world's best pound-for-pound fighter.
Pacquiao is a huge favorite in the fight. Then again, stranger things have happened (see Douglas, Buster vs. Tyson, Mike, or McCall, Oliver vs. Lewis, Lennox).
If Pacquiao wins, who will be waiting in the wings to face the champ? Well, it isn't Floyd Mayweather. Not yet, anyway. It's the fight everybody wants to see, but for a variety of reasons—mostly Mayweather's allegations that Pacquiao uses performance-enhancing drugs—the two can't seem to get together.
Instead, if he beats Mosley, Pacquiao will take on Juan Manuel Marquez in October.
