Aaron Voros Is Not Sean Avery
Aaron Voros has received a lot of print today for his torrid start to the season. Capped by his 2 goal, 1 assist performance against the Devils.
A large portion of that print has included comparisons to Sean Avery. It's a fair assessment, especially after seeing Voros terrorize Brodeur ala Avery last night, but one I don't agree with.
Avery brought his Glamour Magazine to the rink every day, while Voros is bringing his lunch pale.
With Voros there's no making fun of anyone's mother or whatever venom comes out of Avery's mouth. Although, I loved it when Voros got in Colin White's face after his first goal last night. There's just enthusiasm and hard work. I mean, have you ever seen someone get so excited when his line scores?
Even Scott Gomez told Jay Greenberg at The Blue Seats, that Voros was "the most enthusiastic teammate" he has known.
Having Voros' big body in front of the net is going to lead to a lot goals for the Rangers this year and his willingness to drop the gloves will offer protection for Dubinsky and Zherdev to do their thing.
Add that Voros was a die-hard Rangers fan growing up and you have the makings of a true fan favorite.
Can you say Sean who?
