Pernell McPhee to Baltimore Ravens: 2011 NFL Draft Scouting Report

Pernell McPhee had one of the highly-recruited prospects coming out of JUCO in 2009 and had a solid if unspectacular career with the Mississippi State Bulldogs.

McPhee earned 1st-team All-SEC honors in 2010 after amassing 9.5 TFLs and 12 QH hurries. He's big, at nearly 280 lbs, and would ideally be a 3-4 defensive end.

His 4.91 40 at the Combine was mediocre at best, and scouts have expressed concern about his explosion off the ball.

However, anytime a player performs well in the SEC, you have to think they'll find ways to contribute in the NFL (QBs aside).

The Ravens get good value with McPhee in the 6th round, a guy who could've gone a round or two earlier.
