Lee Smith to New England Patriots: 2011 NFL Draft Scouting Profile

Dylan MacNamaraSenior Writer ISeptember 24, 2016

Lee Smith is a massive tight end (6'6'', 267 lbs) who should figure in with the Patriots as a blocking tight end in heavy sets.

Smith isn't purely a blocker, however, and showed at Marshall that he can run routes and catch the ball pretty well for a player his size.

With Rob Gronkowski and Aaron Hernandez already in New England, my guess is that Belichick will use Lee in a much more in-line role in three-tight end sets.

He'll also offer value in the kicking game.

A pretty good value pick for the Pats late in the fifth round.
