UFC 129 Results: Georges St-Pierre vs. Jake Shields for Welterweight Belt, Rd. 2
The second round unfurls much like the first, with GSP landing jabs and hooks while Shields can only muster reluctant leg kicks and ineffective jabs in response. Another right hook lands with more force and wobbles the American who needs to find a way to get this to the ground or suffer five rounds of abuse at the end of St-Pierre's jab.
And add in a spinning back kick that convinces Jake to throw caution to the wind and charge forward for a clinch. He gets it, but the Canadian champ shirks him off with little to no trouble.
Georges is feeling his oats as he gives a second cartoon-like flurry of his feet before re-engaging Shields to pump some more jabs into the face of the challenger. Jake's got Gilbert Melendez and Nick Diaz in his corner, which is a good thing because he needs some championship-caliber help.
Jake asks Melendez almost hopefully whether he should pull guard.
Not a good sign.
Oh yeah, another 10-9 round for GSP in a title bout that's looking more and more futile.
