UFC 129 Results: Jose Aldo vs. Mark Hominick for UFC Featherweight Title, Rd. 2
The second stanza starts with Hominick bouncing around while he still can as Aldo continues to attack that front left leg with leg kicks. The whisperings on air are that Junior is getting tired and he does look a little more sluggish than normal.
Still, he's finding homes for the majority of his arsenal as a huge uppercut sneaks through the defense.
The Machine has quite a chin on him, however, as he barely budges and starts to impose his will on the feet. There's definitely something off with Aldo, at least to the point that he wants no part of the Machine on the feet so he grabs another takedown and starts tenderizing his opponent from the full guard.
Hominick's coaches tell him to just tie the champ up and force a reset from McCarthy, but Jose is doing just enough to maintain his dominant position for the moment. But not enough to sap the rest of the time off the clock as the reset comes.
The standup doesn't last long enough for the Machine to take advantage as Aldo comes shooting right back in for another takedown. He rides it out until the second horn and grabs another 10-9 round, but this one was much closer and time is beginning to work against the champion.
