2011 NFL Draft Grades Minnesota Vikings as Biggest Losers of NFL Draft?

Well, no, not all in fact.

I love what the Minnesota Vikings did, not only in the first round, but the entire draft.

Christian Ponder is the most NFL-ready quarterback in the draft and will be the smart game manager this team needs. They tried to trade out, couldn't find a partner and I have no problem with them making this move.

In the second round Kyle Rudolph is the perfect weapon for Ponder, a quarterback who won't charge the ball downfield but puts great touch on his ball and now has a 6'6 target that he can't miss down the seam or on a corner.

The Vikings traded their third rounder for Randy Moss (epic fail) but still had arguably my favorite draft.

Christian Ballard (who fell down boards after failing a drug test at the combine), Brandon Burton and DeMarcus Love are all talents that at one point this year were easily second round picks.

Slippery Rock center Brandon Fusco is a small school star and could be the future at the position, career college backup D'Audre Reed just needs a chance and Mistral Raymond, Ross Homan and Stephen Burton will all fight for roster spots.

All positions of need were addressed, they found value in each round, and there is nothing in my mind that will stop them from challenging for a wild card spot in NFC next year.
