NFL Draft 2011: What the Detroit Lions Need to Do in Final Rounds to Earn an A
This is the easiest pick of the draft. I have one guy for the Detroit Lions to get today. One guy. They have two picks and neither of them come in the fourth round.
Martin Mayhew (GM) and Jim Schwartz (head coach) need to trade both of their fifth and seventh round picks and get OLB Mark Herzlich if they think he will go in the fourth.
Otherwise, take him with the 157th pick in the fifth. If you think he might go even lower, get the guy you want in the fifth and either trade to pick Herzlich early or see if he drops all the way to the seventh.
If Herzlich falls to the seventh, he's a steal.
We have drafted to our strengths so far and have added some excellent players.
I no longer have any doubts that the Lions front office has plans for getting other positional needs met through free agency.
For today, however, the Lions will earn an A for getting OLB Mark Herzlich.
The Detroit Lions will be a monster in the NFC North on offense and defense. Herzlich will add to the strength of this team both in the locker room and on the field. He will bring the drive and the motor that Detroit loves and has the character that will be in keeping with the heart of this team.
One pick. OLB Mark Herzlich gives Detroit an A.
