As sports fans, we all learned earlier today that Tony Romo broke his right pinkie finger and will miss four weeks of football. As a diehard Eagles fan, I find this news to be thrilling. I also find it hilarious. Four weeks with a broken pinkie? Suck it up and play, Romo.
McNabb played an entire game with a broken ankle. He played the first half of the 2003 season with a broken right thumb. He played the first half of the 2005 season with a bruised chest and a sports hernia. Phillip Rivers played last season's AFC Championship Game with a torn ACL!
And Romo is going to miss one month because of a broken pinkie. Brett Favre has played with a separated shoulder and a sprained ankle so bad he could barely walk.
Part of being an NFL player, especially the quarterback of one of the most well-known teams in all of sports, is playing through pain. A team needs to know that it can count on its leader to be there, even when injured. Especially for a minor little finger injury.
