The hockey world suffered another tragic loss today when New York Ranger prospect Alexei Cherepanov collapsed during a KHL game at the young age of 19.
This coming off the heels of a Canucks memorial for fallen defenceman Luc Bourdon on opening night of the regular season.
It is upsetting that many fans will never realize just how phenomenal this young Russian star was-on and off the ice.

Cherepanov had 29 points with Omsk in his rookie season, that was more than Evgeni Malkin, Alexander Ovechkin or Ilya Kovalchuk all registered in their first seasons in the Russian Super League.
This season he had tallied 7 goals and 5 assists in 14 games so far, and even had scored in the game in which he lost his life.
There is little doubt that he would have been one of the greats with his raw talent and ability to score, he was a special player.
My deepest sympathies go out to his family and friends, he was taken from us all too soon.
