Cortez Allen to Pittsburgh Steelers: 2011 NFL Draft Scouting Report

Cortez Allen is the newest member of the Pittsburgh Steelers after being selected with pick number 128 in the 2011 NFL Draft.

Allen could be the cornerback the Steelers have been looking for to supplement or replace Ike Taylor. Although Allen isn't NFL ready, he has more than enough ability to contribute in the Steelers 3-4 defense.

A small school player out of FCS Citadel, Allen is one of the top developmental defensive prospects in the entire draft. He has a very intriguing size-speed combination. At 6'1", 200 lbs. and running a 4.5, Allen can play either CB or FS at the next level.

The service school product has a high football IQ and can play in any coverage NFL teams throw at him. His only weakness is in off-man coverage against faster wide receivers. He is a little stiff and does not have elite straight-line speed to make up for any mistakes.

Check out an interview I did with Cortez Allen earlier this year.
