It seems as though one of the summer's most talked about transfer sagas just got a new twist.
Liverpool and Spain midfielder Xabi Alonso has come out and stated that he still is thinking about his possible move to Serie A giants Juventus.
"Juventus is Juventus and they are the most important club in Italy. But as a player, you can never be disappointed at Liverpool," Alonso told Calciomercato.com. "Certain things happened in the summer and I appreciated the directors honesty at the club. They told me that they would be doing things differently on the pitch and they decided to go for (Christian) Poulsen instead.
"These things happen in football. I could have signed for Juve but I didn't because they went for someone else," Alonso said. "However, to be totally honest, the attraction on my part has remained intact. I like that way (Juve) have been building. I like the directors and everything else there."
For a team that have struggled with creativity in the midfield, the news of Alonso still thinking about a move to Turin will be music to transfer chief Alessio Secco's ears.
The man in charge of Juve's transfer plans has been under-fire ever since he took over for Luciano Moggi after Calciopoli scandal. With failed signings of Sergio Almiron (who has since been loaned out to Fiorentina) and Tiago and Poulsen, who has failed to impress so far this season, the Bianconeri may still be looking for an answer in the center of their midfield.
