Will Kolb be traded? A QB drafted in round 2 or 3 will indicate yes

I have to say, even though one of the players I predicted in my preview article of five options at No. 23 was drafted by the Eagles, it was not the player I was hoping for.  I would rather have taken a guy who was younger, but Watkins is NFL ready, which is nice.

Now on to the rest of the draft, and all I want to see today is defense.  Defense, defense, and more defense.  I want to draft defensive lineman and linebackers and cornerbacks and safeties.  Other than another offensive lineman and maybe a QB in the mid-rounds, I don't want to see any offense drafted.

None.  Zero.

This draft has to be about improving on defense.  Can it get much worse than Bradley, Gaither, Sims, Chaney, Foku, Jordan, etc?  The Eagles need linebackers and they need multiple linebackers.

They need someone to cover opposite All-Pro Asante Samuel.  They need help on the defensive line and generating a pass rush opposite Trent Cole.

Offensively, they need depth at tackle, and guard.  They could use a fullback and perhaps someone to compete for a QB spot.

QB becomes more pressing a need if Kolb stays.  If the Eagles draft a QB in Round 2 or 3, take that as a sign that Kolb will be traded before the season.  If no QB is drafted or none till late in the game, take that to me the Eagles are standing pat with Kolb.

Of course, there is still free agency and the Eagles could address some needs there.  A certain CB from Oakland would look real nice in Eagles green.

I am anxiously watching day two and hoping to feel better about the Eagles defense at the end of the day.
