2011 NFL Draft Results: Muhammad Wilkerson to New York Jets

Wilkerson, a 6'4" 315 lb beast of a defensive tackle out of Temple, was a first-team All-MAC performer as a junior in 2010. In his final year in college, he made 70 tackles and had team highs with 13 tackles for loss and 9.5 sacks.

A high school basketball star in Linden, N.J., Wilkerson is surprisingly agile for his size—he ran a 4.96 40 at the combine.

“Wilkerson has stood up to the competition in the pre-draft process,” write Derek Harper & Jeff Reynolds of The Sports Xchange, “looking good in positional drills at the combine and capable of playing inside in a 4-3 or the five-technique in a 3-4.”

That made him one of the more valuable defensive linemen available in the Draft.

Inserting him into a veteran-laden Jets D-line should allow him ample time to learn the system. It's a good fit for both sides.

Draft grade: B
