2011 NFL Draft Results Video: Jacksonville Jaguars Select Blaine Gabbert

Brett AppleyCorrespondent IDecember 13, 2016

In a shocking first round, Blaine Gabbert was passed up by the Carolina Panthers, Buffalo Bills, Arizona Cardinals, San Francisco 49ers and Tennessee Titans.

That left room for the Jacksonville Jaguars to trade up to the 10th pick and take a quarterback whom they were apparently high on.

Gabbert said after his selection that he was ready to compete with David Garrard in training camp, and that's exactly what will happen.

Gabbert was considered the most NFL-ready quarterback in the draft for a reason. Competing with Garrard is exactly what he will do, although it is very unrealistic that he would actually get the job in his first year.

Although the Jaguars have a lot of needs to be filled, none of which are at the quarterback position, it's safe to say their first round pick was a good one. They have to be considered one of the winners in the first round thus far.

Enjoy the selection video Jags fans, because you may be looking back on this one for years to come.
