2011 NFL Draft Results: Marcell Dareus to the Buffalo Bills, What About Offense?
As a Patriots fan, it makes me happy to see an AFC East team make such a boneheaded pick.
I have nothing against Marcell Dareus. He's going to be a stud for Buffalo and he'll be one of the best rookies. So on paper and in the statbook, it's a fine pick for Buffalo.
Problem is the Bills needed a leader. Their offense has been anemic under Ryan Fitzpatrick. They can't seem to get anything right on the offense. They get rid of Marshawn Lynch and he ends up making one of the signature runs of the 2010 season.
They draft C.J. Spiller and he ends up being one of the biggest underperformers of the year -- and that one still baffles me after years of watching him light it up at Death Valley.
The Bills had the opportunity to take Blaine Gabbert, a gunslinger and a leader. This just wreaks of the Bills ownership not wanting to pay a big-name QB in the third slot.
You certainly can win games with defense and Dareus will take over games very soon for Buffalo. But you need a QB to win the AFC East. The Bills still don't get it.
