2011 NFL Draft Results: Von Miller to Broncos, Did John Elway Get It Right?
Von Miller has been one of the 2011 NFL Draft prospects that slid under a lot of radars until later in the game.
While Nick Fairley garnered much of the early defensive buzz, Miller was the guy that quickly became coveted by NFL execs.
The stats speak for themselves. What really drove it home for scouts was his disposition and demeanor. His technique and stature got him on the radar. But it was approach to the draft process that truly impressed.
Miller drew comparisons to Derrick Thomas right out of the gate. So in the end, it makes sense that John Elway would make the pick. He was terrorized by Thomas throughout his career, so why not get the next Thomas on your side?
The other thing that struck me here: Tim Tebow gets a vote of confidence on draft day and then the team stays away from the sexy QBs on the board. Maybe, just maybe, Tebow is actually going to get a shot to be the Mile High man.
