2011 NFL Mock Draft: New Orleans Saints Draft Clemson DE Da'Quan Bowers 24th
It's Draft Day and the 2011 NFL Draft will begin tonight at 8 P.M. EST. The New Orleans Saints hold the 24th overall pick in the draft and here's my prediction on what they will do with it.
They are just one year removed from being Super Bowl champions and they are still in good shape for the most part despite being upset at Wild Card Weekend by the Seattle Seahawks.
One area they could address though would be their pass rush especially because they have to play Matt Ryan, the emerging Josh Freeman, and potentially Cam Newton each twice a year. Not to mention, the other great NFC quarterbacks.
That is why I have them taking Clemson defensive end Da'Quan Bowers.
They have to play Matt Ryan, the emerging Josh Freeman, and potentially Cam Newton each twice a year. Not to mention, the other great NFC quarterbacks. Bowers, when healthy, would help them do that.
Yes, the knee is a legitimate long-term concern and some call him a 'ticking time bomb', but even if he can be productive through his first contract over the next five or six years, I think it'd be a worthy selection.
Clemson DE Da'Quan Bowers (Jr.) 2010 Stats: 67 Tackles, 16 Sacks, 1 Forced Fumble, 1 Interception
Other Possibility: Alabama RB Mark Ingram
