2011 NFL Draft Results: Loser -- Blaine Gabbert Slide Begins
Jake Locker to the Tennessee Titans with the No. 8 pick. After picking up our collective mouths off the floor, we're left to wonder why Tennessee went with the Washington QB over Missouri quarterback Blaine Gabbert.
Jon Gruden on ESPN went overboard on his praise for Locker -- which makes you wonder if he was one of the quarterbacks that Gruden worked with in the offseason -- and now all of a sudden Mel Kiper is saying there were warning signs about Gabbert, such as the system he played in with the Tigers.
Bottom line is, Gabbert now becomes the victim of "The Slide." Like Brady Quinn a few years ago and Aaron Rodgers before that, the last thing you want is to be the last guy in the Green Room. With Quinn, NFL Commissioner Roger Goodell actually came and rescued him and brought him up his hotel suite to relax.
Will be interesting to see if the next team that has quarterback issues -- the Vikings at No. 12 -- pull the trigger on Gabbert.
