Todd McShay Has Oakland Raiders Selecting Ryan Mallett in Second Round

Todd McShay has recently completed his second round mock draft, and has Ryan Mallett falling to the Oakland Raiders.  McShay believes that while quarterback is not the most pressing need for the Oakland Raiders, he would be a nice long-term prospect for the team.

Meanwhile, Ryan Mallett did not seem too thrilled about not being selected in the first round, as he has this to say about falling to the second round,

"Whatever team is going to be smart enough to pick me, we’re going to make something happen, I just want to play ball, that’s what I say. I’m not disappointed. I mean I’m disappointed, but I have a chance to play in the NFL, so I’m not too disappointed."

I find it very difficult to believe that Ryan Mallett will fall past both the Washington Redskins and the Cincinnati Bengals in the second round.  There are of course the character concerns but both of those teams need a QB, and Mallett has all the physical tools to be successful.

At this point in the draft he could be a steal for some lucky team.  Mallett has the confidence in himself, as pointed out by his comments above.  He also has the best arm of any QB in the draft.  Mallett has the chance to be a franchise QB, as long as he can get his off field activities under control.
