In the 2011 NFL draft, Patrick Peterson could change the strategy of all 32 teams. Peterson is the best cornerback in the draft, and with so many teams in need of corners, demand could drive teams to trade up.

In this mock draft, he goes No. 7 to San Francisco. Corners can't turn around a defense on their own—even the best have to rely on their front seven getting quarterback pressure because they can only cover for five or six seconds.

The teams that could be improved by a dominant corner are found in the middle of the first round. The only reason Peterson drops so far here is the teams at the top have too many needs to fill a cornerback position.

A number of teams could trade up in the draft, including the Houston Texans, Washington Redskins and Detroit Lions. After those trades, the balance of the first round can shift, wrecking many mock drafts.
