It seemed like we should get used to Peyton Hillis upset wins in the Madden Cover Voting bracket, but it just seemed like he would always come up short.
Well my friends, he didn't.
In an easy victory over Michael Vick, Peyton Hillis will now be on the cover of Madden 12 once the game comes out.
Not many people thought he would get past the first round, as he was seeded 10th out of 16th in his division, but he did.
Let's recap his improbable run to the Madden Cover Vote.
In his first round matchup, Hillis faced seventh seeded Ray Rice of the Baltimore Ravens. He won handily, defeating Rice by tallying 62% of the votes.
Next, he faced much stiffer competition.
Second seeded Matt Ryan was supposed to cruise to an easy victory, as well known QBs usually win over one-year wonder running backs.
Who should have won the Madden Cover?
That was not to be the case.
In the closest vote of his match-ups, Hillis won by 2% as he recorded 51% of the votes compared to Ryan's 49%.
Though he had two more yards per carry than Hillis during the regular season, No.6 Jamaal Charles of the Kansas City Chiefs was unable to overpower the freight train that is Peyton Hillis.
Hillis won by another substantial amount, gaining 60% of the votes to Charles' 40%.
After that, he faced the favorite that was supposed to win the whole Madden Cover Vote, Aaron Rodgers.
Rodgers is the current Super Bowl MVP and was excellent during the playoffs. Certainly he must beat Hillis, right?
Hillis did what he did to the other competition, ran through them. First seeded Aaron Rodgers was gone after Hillis recorded 61% of the votes.
Next he faced No.3 Michael Vick. Now people have gotten used to Peyton Hillis winning, but they weren't sure he could win this one yet.
In his largest margin of victory throughout the tournament, Hillis won the Madden Cover after steamrolling through Vick with 66% of the votes.
Some were opposed to Vick winning the competition, citing his past as reasons.
We should be happy for Hillis though. He beat almost all the competition convincingly. Or should we?
The winner of the Madden Cover Vote is said to have the mysterious Madden Curse the next year. They just don't perform as well.
Will Hillis get Madden Cursed? We'll just have to wait and see.
