NFL Draft Results 2011: Akeem Ayers Is the Newest Member of the Titans
NFL Draft Results 2011 Have the Titans Drafting Akeem Ayers in Round Two
With their second round pick, the Tennessee Titans have picked former UCLA linebacker Akeem Ayers. While many thought Ayers could have been a first round pick, he is a very good pick for the Titans at this point of the second round.
Ayers is an interesting prospect. He is built like a perfect 3-4 outside linebacker but he can also play in a 4-3 scheme at that position and he even spent time at UCLA with his hand on the ground as a defensive end.
Ayers had a disappointing combine when it came to his 40 yard dash, but he plays much faster than he times. If Titan fans need more convincing that he is a great fit, just find a tape of UCLA’s upset win over Texas last year and you will see a guy who absolutely dominated the game and was a huge reason for the win.
He currently weighs in at 255 pounds and I do wonder if he would be better suited to drop some weight. It might make him faster and more explosive than he already is.
