NFL Mock Draft: Paul Kuharsky Thinks Aldon Smith Is the Pick for the Texans
NFL Mock Draft Pick Has Aldon Smith Heading to Houston
The Houston Texans are in a very peculiar position in this draft. Historically the No. 11 pick has yielded some pretty great players but throw in the fact that the Texans are changing schemes from the 4-3 to the 3-4 and which player they pick at No. 11 will ultimately play a huge role in just how smooth that transition is.
AFC South blogger Paul Kuharsky thinks that the Texans are going to pick Aldon Smith from Missouri.
“Somehow, I sense that Smith has become unpopular with a good share of Texans fans. His name certainly lacks the juice of Von Miller or Robert Quinn. But plenty of teams would like to get their hands on Smith, who’s an intriguing option as an outside linebacker in Houston’s new 3-4 defensive front. He’s got intriguing size at 6-foot-4, 263 pounds. The best defensive player in this scenario may be Wisconsin’s J.J. Watt, but rushing the passer is not what he does best and that’s what the Texans need most.”
While I think the Texans would love to see Quinn available at No. 11, Smith could be a solid backup plan, but let’s face it if they miss out on Quinn I think the pick is Prince Amukamara from Nebraska.
