2011 NFL Mock Draft: Todd McShay Thinks Seattle Seahawks Will Take Derek Sherrod
Todd McShay 2011 NFL Mock Draft Claims the Seahawks Won't Draft a QB at No. 25
The Seattle Seahawks need a quarterback. Unfortunately for them, they have plenty of other needs too, and there's really no telling how they'll use their No. 25 pick on Thursday night.
Personally, I think the Seahawks should make it a priority to take a QB, but ESPN's Todd McShay has them taking Mississippi State offensive tackle Derek Sherrod in his latest 2011 NFL Mock Draft (can only be accessed with ESPN Insider).
McShay is well aware that the Seahawks need a QB, but he just thinks Sherrod would be a great fit:
Sherrod is a technician who works well on the move and is always in good position, and he is a good fit for Seattle's version of the West Coast offense.

The Seahawks do have a need at offensive tackle, and Sherrod will fill it... but I just don't get this one. Sherrod is not on the same level as the elite tackles in this year's draft class -- Tyron Smith, Anthony Castonzo, Gabe Carimi -- so I just have a hard time buying that the Seahawks would draft him instead of a quarterback like Jake Locker.
McShay says that the Seahawks could move back to take a quarterback. If they do, that means they won't be drafting Sherrod. Therefore, it sounds like this pick is a long shot no matter which way you look at it.
Grade: C
My Pick: Jake Locker
Call me stubborn, but I've had Locker going to the Seahawks for a while now.
