When it comes to 2011 NFL Mock Drafts, there are only so many authorities for the rest of us to go by. It just so happens that ESPN has two very good ones in Mel Kiper and Todd McShay.
Without them, tackling your own mock draft would be like trying to give a sermon without a pulpit.
However, as clever and well-informed as Kiper and McShay may be, their mocks do tend to offer up a few picks that are real head-scratchers.
For example, I'm pretty sure one of Kiper's mocks had the Houston Texans taking Julio Jones. It doesn't get much more puzzling than that.
But never mind Kiper. I've already done an exhaustive critique of his most recent mock. Instead, I'm going to set might sights on McShay. After all, there are precious few hours left until the draft, and mocking McShay's most recent mock draft sounds like a great way to pass the time.
The formula here is pretty simple. I'm going to go through McShay's mock pick by pick, and I'm basically going to take him to school.
If I think McShay nailed a given pick, he gets a good grade. If I think he's wrong, he gets a bad grade. Either way, I'll wrap things up by giving my own two cents about which player each team should pick.
If this sounds like fun to you, all you have to do is keep it here and wait for updates.
If this doesn't sound like fun, that means your name is Todd McShay, and that this is not the place for you. You're biased.
