2011 NFL Mock Draft: Todd McShay Says Chargers Will Take Muhammad Wilkerson
Todd McShay's 2011 NFL Mock Draft Has the Chargers Filling Their DE Need
The San Diego Chargers put up some pretty solid numbers in 2010, but I'm of the mind that their defense left a lot to be desired. They have plenty of holes to fill, and they're going to need to do so if they're going to stay relevant in the AFC West.
The Chargers have the No. 18 pick in the draft, and their first priority is finding a difference-making defensive end. And if you were to ask ESPN draft expert Todd McShay, they're going to be able to get one.
McShay's most recent 2011 NFL Mock Draft (can only be accessed with ESPN Insider) has the Chargers taking Temple's Muhammad Wilkerson, a player he thinks will "occupy space and provide some production as a pass-rusher."

McShay is absolutely correct. Wilkerson didn't get a whole lot of attention at Temple, but he definitely put up numbers. In the last two seasons combined, Wilkerson had 23.5 tackles for loss and 16.5 sacks. He's a true power rusher, and he's equally effective stuffing the run and rushing the passer.
The Chargers play in a division with two of the best rushing attacks the NFL has to offer in the Kansas City Chiefs and the Oakland Raiders. They're going to need Wilkerson.
Grade: A
My Pick: Muhammad Wilkerson
If he's there, this pick is pretty much a lock.
