Memphis Grizzlies' Tony Allen Should Have Kept Fierce Grizzly Hairdo

I have no idea what Tony Allen was thinking. I am not talking about the haircut he chose to get himself ahead of Monday's game against the Spurs.

I am referring to his decision to chop it off before sharing it with the world. The only vestiges left of the renowned haircut is this picture that was tweeted by Curtis Givens.

We have all heard of playoff beards. Those are the usual good luck charm sported by post season athletes. This may be the world's first bear haircut, and now it is gone.

I know Allen isn't at all shy. In fact, the Grizzlies star player has no qualms with letting his feelings known about Manu Ginobili.

He called out the Spurs player for faking his elbow injury recently. It is one thing to call Manu a flopper. I am sure even Ginobili's family has uttered that phrase around him once or twice.

It is entirely another to call a player out for being soft. That leaves me scratching my head as to why he had this epic Grizzly etched into the back of his dome, only to cut it off minutes later.

That was a bigger waste that Darko Milicic. The bear could have gone on as long as the Grizzlies remained in the playoffs. I had hopes that the bear itself could have grown a playoff beard. There is no way you can defend someone who has a bear on his head who also rocks sick facial hair.

That simple gesture could have netted Memphis a title. Okay, maybe not, but it would have been glorious.
